Warren "Jack" Sturgeon Jr.

Warren "Jack" Sturgeon Jr., 74, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at home. He was a graduate of Hannan High School class of 1954, a former United States Navy Reservist, and a member of the Old Westminister Church of Gallipolis Ferry. Jack served as a member of the Mason County Fair Board, the Mason County Board of Health, a 4-H volunteer, was a life long Republican Committeeman, and retired from the Goodyear Plant with 33 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, but most importantly was a family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Jack was born November 11, 1935 in Ashton, WV to the late Warren Sturgeon and Hazel Marie (Adkins) Sturgeon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin "Pood" Sturgeon. Surviving are his wife, Joy (Lee) Sturgeon of Gallipolis Ferry; a son and daughter-in-law, Rocky Joe and Susan Sturgeon of Gallipolis Ferry; one daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Sammie Doolittle of Point Pleasant; two sisters, Edith (Odell) Powers of Glenwood, and Sue Haycraft of Point Pleasant; six grandchildren, Derrick (Loren) Watterson of Gallipolis Ferry, Heidi (Roger) Wood of Point Pleasant, Heather Sturgeon of Gallipolis Ferry, Garrett Watterson of Point Pleasant, Haley Sturgeon of Gallipolis Ferry, and Levi Doolittle of Point Pleasant; one step great-grandson, Nathan Wood of Point Pleasant; and six brothers-in-law, Willie (Sheila) Henry, Brookie Henry, Jackie (Joyce) Lee, Rolfe (Sharon) Lee, Charles (Jackie) Lee and Allen (Beverly) Lee. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Nance and Rev. Bob Allbright officiating. Burial will follow in the Jordan Cemetery at Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
