Joyce Ann Lanier

Joyce Ann Lanier, 80, of Henderson, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born September 3, 1942, in Henderson, a daughter of the late Lawrence Dickerson Bechtle and Beulah Margaret (Jordan) Bechtle.

Joyce was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Henderson and attended Harmony Baptist Church in Southside, WV.  She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1960 and a homemaker who loved to cook and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frederick Vernon Lanier of Henderson; brother, Howard L. (Suetta) Bechtle of Leon, WV; two nephews and a niece who referred to her as Aunt Juice, Howard L. (Lisa) Bechtle II of Leon, Joseph S. (Beth) Bechtle of Circleville, OH and Donna R. (Chris) Legg of Leon; five great nephews and nieces, Alex, Jason, Allison, Malea and Ashley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Janet Faye Lanier of Southside; sister-in-law, Edna Lanier of Henderson; aunt, Jewell Durst of Gallipolis Ferry; and uncles, Jim (Ruby) Jordan, Donald Jordan and Wilbur (Ellen) Jordan all of Gallipolis Ferry.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor David Radcliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Concord Cemetery in Henderson. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home.
