Wilma Maxine Putney, 78, of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Pleasant Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 2, 1932 in Pliny, WV, a daughter of the late Jasper Hayes and Abbie (Kinnard) Hayes. Maxine was a homemaker, and had worked at Pleasant Valley Hospital and Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a dietary aide. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Maxwell Putney; a daughter, Barbara Jean Putney; one brother, James Henry Hayes, two sisters, Katherine Thacket and Mary Lou Wallace; and a great grandson, Chase Spurlock. Surviving are four daughters, Sharon Bentz (David Brown) of Point Pleasant, Linda (Richie) Friend of Syracuse, OH, Margaret (Rick) Matheny of Leon, and Brenda (Ron) Casto of Red House; three sons, Edison Eugene (April) Putney of Letart, Roger Dale Putney of Point Pleasant, and James Matt (Renee) Putney of Letart; four brothers, William Hayes of Red House, Garland Hayes of Pliny, Earnest Hayes of St. Albans, and John Burile Hayes of Hurricane; two sisters, Marie Gillispie of Teays Valley, and Ruth Bayes of Winfield; 27 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and a special friend, Ruth Ann. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Johnny Hayman officiating.
