William A. Norville “Wild Bill”, age 69, of Leon, WV, unexpectedly passed away on January 16, 2023, peacefully while surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving companion, four children, nine grandchildren, a great grandchild, two sisters, two brothers and countless friends. Bill grew up in Mason County, WV, throughout his life he was a traveler but always kept his roots to the river. Shortly after graduating Wahama High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1976. Bill went into the pipe fitters union which became his career for the remainder of his life, until his retirement in 2018. During the course of his life he truly earned the name “Wild Bill”, which countless people he met along the way would attest. Bill was a man who enjoyed being free to roam, never fearing the unknown or shying away from a life lesson. Bill was a race car enthusiast and a race car driver in the late 70s and 80s. He loved to drive way too fast and embraced the edge of any line that was drawn. For all who loved Bill, his family is sorry for your loss. He was a great father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be forever imprinted in our hearts, as the memories that bring laughter and comfort are endless. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m., with Pastor Jonathan Pinson officiating. Military honors will be given by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard and Stewart Johnson VFW Post of Mason, WV.
