William H. "Wally" Wallace

William H. "Wally" Wallace, 56, of Point Pleasant, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at home. He was born January 28, 1955 in the Azores, Portugal, a son of the late Herbert D. Wallace and Eva S. (Marrero) Wallace of Point Pleasant. Bill attended Marshall and Fairmont Universities and received his Masters Degree from West Virginia University. He was an Industrial Engineer, retired from the Philip Sporn Plant in New Haven, had taught and coached at Point Pleasant Junior High School, and also had been an Industrial Arts Instructor at Rio Grande Community College, Buckeye Hills, and Point Pleasant Vocational School. He was an active member in the Sons of the American Legion of Point Pleasant, Loyal Order of Moose, Democratic Executive Committee, served for eight years as a Point Pleasant City Council Member, was past chairman of the Point Pleasant Regatta and past president of the MGM Marshall Athletic Club. Bill was an avid supporter of athletics, especially to his alma mater Point Pleasant High School where he was the voice behind the microphone at football and basketball games for many years. In addition to his mother Eva, he is survived by two aunts, Rose Wallace of Point Pleasant and Virginia Wallace of Bellaire, Ohio; cousins, Jimmy Mansolo and Nester Mansolo of Gainesville, Florida, Barbara Robin (Russ) Williams of Gallipolis, Ohio, Debra Rae Wallace of Point Pleasant, Kenneth Richard Wallace of Annapolis, Maryland, and Duane Richard (Teresa) Wallace and Bobby Ann (Bob) Barrett of Orlando, Florida. He was also "Uncle Bill" to nephews Pat and Tim Taylor, Dallas and Wallace Hill, and Gee Gee Mansolo; and great niece, "Allie" Taylor. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Carl "Boxer" Swisher officiating. A private graveside service will be at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
