William "Bill" Jennings Mellert, 82, of Point Pleasant formerly of Charleston and Dunbar, WV, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. He was born December 24, 1932, in Huntington, a son of the late Hubbard K. Mellert and Stella (Frazier) Mellert. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Millwright Local Union No. 1755, American Legion Ford Mullins Post No. 94, Loyal Order of Moose Charleston Lodge No. 1444 and West Virginia State Department of Korean War Veterans Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Mellert; two sisters, Katherine Wilkes and Vivian Robinson; and brothers, Hub, Clyde, Kenneth, Robert, Gene and Donnie Mellert. Surviving him is his love, Lucie Mellert whom he married March 15, 1958; son James Floyd Kelly III and "daughter"-in-law, Mary Frances Kelly of Point Pleasant; two grandsons, Joshua James Kelly and wife Dayna of Kansas City, MO and Brian David Kelly of Point Pleasant; one great grandson, Isaac James Kelly of Kansas City; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor James F. Kelly III officiating. Military rites will be given by American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant and the West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
