Wanda Kay Smith, 62, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 19, 1954, in Lizemores, WV, a daughter of the late Leo Otto Sanders and Lydia Lockwood (Elliott) Sanders. Wanda was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant. She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1972 and Marshall University. She retired as personnel director from Lakin Hospital. Wanda is survived by her husband, Cecil L. Smith of Point Pleasant; one sister, Julia (Bob) Messick of Brighton, MI; four brothers, Steve (Mollie) Sanders of Point Pleasant, Wayne (Pat) Sanders of Hurricane, Robert (Connie) Sanders of Southside and James (Lora) Sanders of Andover, MN; several nieces and nephews; and best friend Brenda Shuler. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Doug Hendrixson officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers for those considering an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 2500 Mount Vernon Avenue, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
