Walter Lawrence Slayton

Walter Lawrence Slayton Jr., 48, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away unexpectedlyFriday, July 23, 2021, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. He was born September 15, 1972, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of the late Walter L. Slayton Sr. and Loretta J. (Wears) Slayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Earthley (Wamsley) Wears and Daniel and Ella (Long) Slayton. Walter was a graduate of Hannan High School Class of 1991 and a member of Boilermakers Local 667 of Winfield, WV.He was a patient, kind and loving soul and will be greatly missed by his loved ones. He is survived by his fiancée, Christana Long of Gallipolis Ferry; sons, Walter Lawrence Slayton III of Gallipolis Ferry and Tanner Wright of Nitro, WV; stepdaughter, Chrissanne "Maggie" Long of Gallipolis Ferry; sisters, Melissa S. Slayton of Apple Grove and Barbara A. (Irwin) Blessing of Point Pleasant; a brother, Scott E. Slayton of Apple Grove; and good friend, Randy Powers.
