Walter L. Slayton

Walter L. Slayton, 74, of Apple Grove died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. He was born May 2, 1934 in Mason County to the late Daniel E. and Ellie Mae (Long) Slayton. Walter was a former employee of American Car and Foundry in Huntington, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel E. Slayton; and one great grandchild. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Loretta J. (Wears) Slayton; their children, Walter L. Slayton Jr. of Southside; Scott E. Slayton and Melissa S. Slayton both at home; and Barbara Blessing of Point Pleasant; one brother, George Slayton of Apple Grove; four sisters, Pauline Kinnard and Virginia Slayton of Apple Grove; Sarah Slayton of Point Pleasant; and Betty Doward of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There will be no services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
