Virginia Mae White, 100, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, August 31, 2017, at home with her family by her side. She was born January 11, 1917, in Hamlin, WV, a daughter of the late Walter Duncan and Virgie Lee (Compton) Duncan. Virginia was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church in West Hamlin. She was a homemaker and had worked for Dr. McClellan in West Hamlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hersey Lee White; sister, Bonnie Salmons, Myrtle McComas and Ruby Smith; brothers, Buster Duncan, Hal Duncan, Lloyd Duncan and Junior Duncan; and great-grandson, Joseph "Joey" Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Ann Thompson of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Joe (Lori) Thompson of Point Pleasant, Tony (Sandy) Thompson of Gallipolis, Lee (Amy) Thompson of Point Pleasant and Mark (Kim) Thompson of Gallipolis; 10 great-grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Mitchell (Desirae) Smith, Matthew (Rikki) Thompson, Kassie Lucas, Tony Thompson, Shawn (Natalie) Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson, Jonathan Thompson, Evan Thompson and Amanda Thompson; six great-great-grandchildren, Khloie, Maddie, Easton, Matthew, Eloise and Nicholas; and one sister, Eva Salmons of Huntington. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mel Mock officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home.
