Virginia Irene (Rainey) Hatfield, 84, of Gallipolis Ferry, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Bloomingdale, Ohio. She was born September 20, 1927, in Gallipolis Ferry, a daughter of the late Charles Amidee Rainey and Anna (Roush) Rainey. Virginia was a exceptional homemaker and a member of the Jordan Baptist Church of Gallipolis Ferry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister; Velvie Spencer and seven brothers; Charles, Harvey, Harry, Everett, Douglas, Bert and Leo Rainey. Virginia is survived by her husband, Rev. William "Bud" Hatfield of Gallipolis Ferry who referred to her as Bud's sweetheart; sons and daughters, Michael Hatfield (Kay) of Gallipolis Ferry, Nikki Hatfield of Gallipolis Ferry, Rex Hatfield (Becky) of Gallipolis Ferry, Jeffrey Hatfield of Point Pleasant, John Hatfield (Stephanie) of Gallipolis Ferry, Joe Hatfield (Stephanie) of Gallipolis Ferry and Anita Evans (Matt) of Bloomingdale, OH; twelve grandchildren, Rusty Hatfield (Brenda), Angie Huffman (Larry), Chris Hatfield, David Hatfield (Danetta), Sam Hatfield (Leah), Seth Hatfield (Bethany), Nicholas Hatfield, Kayla Hatfield, Megan Hatfield, Erin Hatfield, Allison Hatfield and Morgan Evans; eight great granchildren, Tyler Huffman, Trent Huffman, Travis Huffman, TJ Huffman, Madison Hatfield, Caleb Hatfield, Kade Oliver and Cole Hatfield. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Jordan Baptist Church in Gallipolis Ferry with Max Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery at Gallipolis Ferry, WV. There will be no public visitation. Wilcoxen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
