Virgil Ray Queen

Virgil Ray Queen, 81, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at home.

He was born December 23, 1942, in Barboursville, WV, a son of the late William Queen and Doshie Mae (Siders) Queen Sydenstricker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vanessa D. Queen; and brothers, Cecil Queen and William Sydenstricker.

Virgil was a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant.  He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1962, served his country honorably in the United States Army and retired with 33 years service from Akzo Nobel in Gallipolis Ferry.

He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Elaine (Dale) Ball of Ravenswood; stepdaughter, Julie Ann (Jerry) Boggs of Gallipolis Ferry; stepson, Davey Ray Gardner of Gallipolis Ferry; a sister, Martha M. Sydenstricker; brothers, Birdie Queen and Richard (Brenda) Sydenstricker; grandchildren, Jesse Ball, Kody Copley, Brooke (Zach) Evans, Hannah Copley, Piper Boggs, and Stone Boggs; great grandchildren, Jayden Ball, Sophia Ball and Ava Evans.; nieces and nephews; and a special friend Mike McCallister.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Warner and Rev. Mel Mock officiating.  Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Friday at the funeral home.
