Violet L. Bateman

Violet L. Bateman, 88, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center in Middleport, OH. She was born October 9, 1933, in Pliny, WV, a daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Martin and Ethel Elizabeth (Buckle) Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Richard Thomas Bateman; and a brother, Wilson Eugene Martin. Violet was a member of Faith Gospel Church in Gallipolis Ferry.She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and a retired secretary from Appalachian Tire in Point Pleasant. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Cosma Bateman of Gallipolis Ferry and Stephen R. and Diana Bateman of Gallipolis Ferry; grandchildren, Pamela (Joe) Stewart of Point Pleasant, Kristin (Seth) Rhodes of Scott Depot, WV and Elizabeth Bateman of Gallipolis Ferry; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Ella and Layne Stewart and Solomon and Isaiah Rhodes; and one brother, Paul Martin of Gallipolis Ferry. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Ronald Cremeans officiating.Burial will follow at the Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove.The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Friday at the funeral home.
