Verda Rosalee Davis

Verda Rosalee Davis, 89, of Letart, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, WV.

She was born May 17, 1934, in Letart, a daughter of the late Clarence Richard Gill and Grace Kathryn (Roush) Gill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Davis; a sister, Maude L. Connolly; and one brother, George M. Gill.

Verda was a graduate of Wahama High School, Class of 1953 and former owner of the Southern Bar-B-Q in Point Pleasant.  She retired from Hecks Department Store in Point Pleasant, was a sitter at Holzer Medical Center and also a private home caregiver.

She is survived by her children, Terry L. Cullen and husband Mitchell of Letart, Bobby Kay Dennis and husband Joe of Claymont, DE, Robert F. Davis Jr. "Robby Slappy" and wife Linda  of Point Pleasant and Danny R. Davis and wife Sonya of Point Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Sean (Abigail) Cullen, Heather (Tyler) Courts, Michelle (Willie) Simpkins, Stephanie Dennis, Rob (Casey) Davis, Wesley Davis and Zak (Kisha) Davis; and nine great grandchildren, Katie, Madison, Amelia, Tucker, Easton, Cullen, Sutton, Gage and Gaven.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Jack Warner officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Letart.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service Friday at the funeral home.
