Mrs. V. Evelyn Blake Austin, 84, of Henderson, WV, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed from this life Friday, June 1, 2007 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH. Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant by Pastor George Topping. Entombment services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in the Ridgelawn Memorial Park Chapel in Huntington. Entombment will be in the Lakeside West Mausoleum at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, "Abby of Devotion", in Huntington, WV. She was born June 25, 1922, a daughter of the late Lowry Irvin and Flaura Belle (McComas) Roe. She was an active member of the Church of Christ at Henderson, a member and Past Matron of Huntington Chapter No.8, O.E.S., a former officer and member of the Huntington Business and Professional Womens Club, a demitted member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, she worked as a policy writer and bookkeeper for Insurance Agenices in Huntington for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Ralph Blake and her second husband, Woodson Austin; a sister, Eloise Hope Murdock; brothers, Harley E. Roe, Charles A. Roe and Albert M. Roe. Survivors include one stepson; Thomas W. Austin and his wife Joan M., and one step granddaughter, Katarina, all of Williamsburg, Va.; one special niece, Deborah Murdock Lux of Parkersburg, WV and one special nephew, Robert Stephen Murdock of Ona, WV along with several other nieces and nephews and a host of cousins. Family and friends may call at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in memory of the deceased.
