Thomas William Johnson, 83, of Point Pleasant went home to his Lord and Savior, Monday, October 3, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, in Huntington. He was born April 14, 1933, in Oldtown, KY, a son of the late Ernest "Pete" Johnson and Anna (Fritz) Johnson Stephenson. Tom was a graduate of Wurtland Kentucky High School and a veteran of the Korean War. Before and after his retirement from Ravenswood Aluminum, Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed trout fishing and caught several citation level trout at Krodel Lake. He was a member of the Point Pleasant High School Athletic Hall of Fame, receiving induction in 2010 for his 36 years of volunteer groundskeeping at Saunders Memorial Field. Tom loved and supported gospel music in a big way, attending many gospel sings in the surrounding area. He was a member of Krebs Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Patsy (Coffee) Johnson; and two sisters, Frieda McClanahan and Mary Hall. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Diana Johnson of Elkins; a granddaughter, Jessica Johnson of Columbia, MO; one grandson, Tim Johnson of Arlington, VA; sister, Wanda Faye Imel of Greenup, KY; step-sister, Margaret Smith of Maryland; a special best friend and fiancée, Evelyn Roush of New Haven; six nephews and three nieces. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell, KY. Visitation will be Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
