Sidney "Bubby" Jones, Jr.

Sidney G. "Bubby" Jones Jr., 61, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant.

He was born September 9, 1961, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Sidney G. "Sid" Jones Sr. and Dorothy Faye (Blankenship) Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeana Faye McCoy; and nephew, Jeremy Ogier.

Bubby was a Christian and attended the Cheshire Baptist Church in Cheshire, OH.  He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1979 and member of American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant.  He was employed by AEP River Transportation as a riverboat captain.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Matt Rieger of Scott Depot, WV; fiancée, Stephanie Wood of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Sydnee Adkins of Scott Depot and Liam Rieger of Scott Depot; four bonus grandchildren, Clay and Bo Thompson of Cheshire and Abel and Maelynn McCoy of Gallipolis Ferry.  He is also survived by a brother, Jeffrey A. "Fuzz" Jones of Gallipolis Ferry; Jay Adkins of Fraziers Bottom, WV, who was like a son; Sandy Epling of Myrtle Beach, SC, the mother of his daughter; and so many special friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.  A graveside service and burial will follow the visitation at the Zion Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry, with Pastor Jim Williams officiating.
