Shonna Katherine Dempsey

Shonna Katherine Dempsey of Point Pleasant, WV, formerly of Mayville, New York, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior August 8, 2011. She was born January 24, 1919 in Syracuse, New York. She was married to William J. Dempsey in 1943 until his death in 1996. Shonna is survived by son Michael Dempsey of LaQuinta, CA, and his wife Diane; daughters, Barbara Balch and Christine Gibbeaut of Point Pleasant; grandsons, Patrick Welsh of Point Pleasant, Daniel Dempsey and his wife Ann Marie of Whitmore Lake, WI, Joseph Dempsey of Thousand Palms, CA, and Chase Gibbeaut of Point Pleasant; granddaughters, Leslie Armstrong and her husband Mark of Wilmington, NC, Cindy Workman and her husband Larry of Montgomery, AL, Jennifer Newell of Point Pleasant; and great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Nicholas and Madison Newell, and Riley and Abigail Workman. She will be fondly remembered and missed by everyone who's life she touched. A graveside service will be conducted in Mayville, New York, and a Celebration of Life will be at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Humane Society. The Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant is in charge of local arrangements.
