Shirley Kay Leport

Shirley Kay (Goodman) Leport, born April 9, 1957, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV on Sunday, February 25, 2024, surrounded by family members and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Greg who passed away June 21, 2022.  Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents, James Glen Goodman and Rosetta (Huddleston) Goodman and her siblings, Sandra Cwiertniewicz, James Glen Goodman Jr., Diana Neal, Joanne Fillinger, Connie Parsons and Kathy Kreiser.

She is survived by her sister, Lisa Goodman of Point Pleasant, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who will greatly miss her.

Shirley was a 1975 graduate of Point Pleasant High School; thereafter she proudly served in the United States Army for four years.  Later, she enjoyed working for the State of West Virginia in different capacities.

In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed cooking for her loved ones by "showing off" her wonderful talent.  She enjoyed watching reality cooking shows, playing cards and the occasional night of bingo.

Shirley's family expresses profound gratitude to her special friend, Justin Wray who was also the best friend one could ever expect to her beloved son Greg, prior to his tragic and untimely death.  To Shirley, Greg and Justin were more like brothers than simply friends.

In accordance with Shirley's wishes, a private graveside service will occur at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
