Sandra Ann Rawson

January 29, 1950 — August 22, 2023

Sandra Ann Rawson, 73, of Southside, WV entered Heaven on August 22, 2023.  She peacefully departed this world, surrounded by her loving family at Ohio State University, The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Ann was born on January 29, 1950, in Gallipolis, OH. She was a 1968 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and a retiree of Pleasant Valley Hospital where she served in multiple capacities including Radiology Department Office Coordinator.

Above all, Ann was a devout Christian, who loved the Lord. Her unwavering faith carried her through every moment of her life. Her deepest desire was to see her whole family saved so they can be united in heaven to celebrate for eternity.

Ann had a gift for decorating. From interior design to weddings and seasonal displays, her work was impeccable. She was the creator and owner of Floral Reflections. She took great pride in making custom floral arrangements for all occasions. She continued to create the perfect pieces to brighten and comfort others until 2022.

Ann was an amazing cook. She loved preparing and sharing meals, especially for her family. She made sure everyone had a favorite on the table and no one left hungry. Following a recipe cannot recreate what she made because the taste of her love was in everything she prepared.

Next only to Jesus, her family was everything to Ann. The love she poured into her husband, children, grandchildren and son-in-laws was like no other. She was an exceptional daughter, wife, and mother. As she raised her children, there was never a time she was not present for them. She truly loved unconditionally. However, Ann’s most coveted role was being NanNan to her four precious grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader, their soft spot to land, and their go-to when everyone else told them something was impossible. NanNan always had the perfect things to say and do for every occasion. She was there to pray for them without ceasing, cheer for them the loudest, defend them the strongest, and mend the most broken of hearts. When they were discouraged her advice to them always was, “Honey don’t worry, just do your best and let Jesus do the rest.” Ann loved her family with her whole heart. She told them so every day, but more importantly, she made them all feel that love too.

Ann was survived by her husband of 54 years, George Allan Rawson of Southside, WV; her daughter, Sandra Lynn Keefer and husband Jody of Southside, WV; her daughter Tiffany Michelle Rawson Ferguson and husband Sean of Huntington, WV; her grandchildren: Madilyn Mackenzie Keefer, Hayley Brooke Keefer, Mikenna Elizabeth Ferguson, and Joseph Sean Ferguson; two sister-in-laws, Dixie Newman and Mary (Stormy) Hart; as well as many cousins and dear friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved son Joseph “Joey” Allan Rawson, loving mother Enna Newman, father Edward Newman, and brother Ralph Newman, brother and sister-in-laws, Charles and Edith Elaine Rawson, Ralph Rawson, William Joseph "Bill"  and Donna Rawson, Don Duncan.

Ann chose her own pallbearers as she loved them as her own: Jason Darst, Sean Ferguson, Chad Foreman, Jody Keefer, Shane Newell, Johnny Roach, Joe Supple, Victor Williamson and honorary pallbearer Chris Hudson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Warner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Ann’s earthy body will be laid to rest in the Rawson Family Cemetery in Southside, next to her son.
