Sally Lou Smith

Sally Lou (Durst) Smith, 89, of Point Pleasant, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant.

She was born February 16, 1935, in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the late Denzil D. and Cora I. (Rainey) Durst.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther O. Smith; a granddaughter, Tanna Smith; nine sisters; and two brothers.

Sally was a member of the Hickory Chapel Church in Point Pleasant.  She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1954, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #157 Mason, WV and had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by sons, Terry L. (Kim) Smith of Ashville, OH and Timothy D. Smith of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Casey L. (Heidi) Smith, Trey J. Smith and Taylor R. Smith; great- grandchildren, Aleah, Alexa, Dominik (Madison), Casom, Asher, Fletcher and Bechum; great-great-grandchildren, Everly and Braxton; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mark Oliver and Pastor Joe Nott officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
