Ruth N. Hope Young

Ruth N. Hope Young of Gallipolis, OH, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, OH.

She was born in Mason County, WV, a daughter of the late John W. and Clara Barton (Reedy) Harmon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Hope and William Young; a brother, Clarence "Buddy" Harmon; sisters, Freda Hall, Clara VanDyne, Edna Benson, Esther Bright and Elsie Meek; nieces, Opal Stearns, Bonnie Roush, Sasha Lawrence; and a nephew, Charles "Pete" Harmon.

Ruth was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ and a licensed practical nurse.  During her 43 years of professional nursing she worked at Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis Clinic, was employed by the late Dr. Roy Eshenaur and retired from Lakin Hospital.

She is survived by stepdaughters, Reta Young Cougenour and Nita Young Propp; special friends, Keith and Zachary Miller; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Robert Leedy officiating.  Burial will follow at Lone Oak-Rogers Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry, WV.  Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
