Ruth Mildred Meaige, 88, of Charleston, WV, went home to be with her heavenly Father on November 25, 2016. She was a great woman, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was born on February 16, 1928 to Captain Thomas Jefferson and Garnett Virginia Reynolds. She was predeceased by her husband, Bud Lee and her son, Thomas Michael. Surviving are her daughters, Garnett Black (David), Sharon Vealey (Harold), Patti Meaige and Pam Smith (Monty); as well as her grandchildren, Amy Byerly, Michelle Budde, Jennifer McCann, Adrian Eisel, Lee Dillard, Lauren De La Cruz, Linn Knight, Bryant Taylor, Lindsay Johnson and Micah Meaige; and 18 great grandchildren. Ruth grew up, along with eight siblings, on the Showboat Majestic, where all the children performed while traveling the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1945, and was a Foster Grandmother for 12 years at Beale Elementary School in Gallipolis Ferry. Ruth loved to travel. She went on several bus tours and visited many states from New York to California, including Hawaii and a family trip to the British Virgin Islands. Ruth was a member of The Church of Christ in Henderson, WV, where she not only taught children's Sunday School, but also taught the women's Bible Class. Her faith remained strong throughout her life and served as an example to all those who knew her. The family would like to thank the Hubbard Hospice House for the special care and kindness they gave their mother. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at The Church of Christ in Henderson, with Minister Bill Deem officiating. Burial will follow at Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
