Ruth Laura Gillespie

Ruth Laura Gillespie, 67, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

She was born October 19, 1957, to the late Robert Earnest Cromley and Roberta Jane (Shaffer) Cromley.

Ruth was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and was a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant. She was a retired Nursing Assistant from Pleasant Valley Nursing Home.

She is survived by a son, Derrick A. "Scooter" (Mandi) Gillespie of Point Pleasant; three grandchildren, Liam, Sophie and Delaney Gillespie all of Point Pleasant; one sister, Susan K. (Rodney) Plants of Point Pleasant; good friend, Lee Dowell of Point Pleasant; and three fur buddies, Scruffy, Zeus and Kazak.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home.
