Russell Emmons Thomas, 81, of Point Pleasant, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020. He was born April 9, 1939, in Point Pleasant, the son of the late Emmons and Clara (Fauver) Thomas of Point Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Carl Knapp. Russell was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1958 and served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired with 32 years service from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company /Shell Corporation in Apple Grove. After retirement, he owned and operated Thomas & Sons Custom Cuts Sawmill. He is survived by his wife, Violet (Schultze) Thomas; a daughter, Lydia (Clifton) Gordon; sons, Larry (Susan) Thomas, David (JoAnn) Thomas and Daniel (Angie) Thomas; grandchildren, Miriam (Greg) Liming, Samuel Gordon, Emily (Thomas) Hussell, Adam (Emma) Thomas, Shane Gillies, Ashlee (Jay) Vasquez, Kayla (Jay) Jackson, Denver (Ashton) Thomas, Luke Thomas, Marissa Thomas and Brooklynn Thomas; and great grandsons, Barrett Russell Liming, Braxton Harmon and Aaron Harmon. A public graveside service and burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant, with Donald Hussell officiating. Military graveside honors will be given by the Air Force Honor Guard. Social distancing will be observed and face masks are required.
