Russell Vernon Holland, 94, of Point Pleasant, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Abbyshire Place in Bidwell, OH. He was born June 10, 1930, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Russell "Gib" Gilbert Holland and Nona Agnes (Deweese) Holland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Janet Elizabeth Holland; three brothers, Thomas, Glen and Chester Holland; a sister, Eloise Kemper; sister-in-law, Gertrude Holland; and brother-in-law, Richard Kemper. Russell was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1947 and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Russell delivered milk for Valley Bell Dairy, worked at Citizen's National Bank, served on the Point Pleasant City Council for many years and then became Mayor of Point Pleasant for 12 years. He also worked at Wilcoxen Funeral Home for many years and was a lifetime member of VFW Stewart Johnson Post 9926, Shriner's and Minturn Lodge 19. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and J.D. Sallaz of Point Pleasant and Dina and Thomas Reynolds of Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Nathan (Beth) Reynolds, Ashley (Joe) Finnicum, Jill (Nathan) Fowler and Tommy (Linsey) Reynolds; five great-grandchildren, Carson and Kylinn Finnicum, Callee Fowler and Jaxx and Kinley Reynolds; sister-in-law, Romona Holland of Point Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Abbyshire Place for the wonderful care given to Russell over the last year. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ronnie Tote and Pastor Nathan Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at the Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant. Military graveside honors will be given by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and Stewart-Johnson VFW Post 9926 of Mason.
