Roger Lane Deweese

August 6, 1974 — July 11, 2023

Roger L. DeWeese, 48, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born August 6, 1974, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of Roger D. DeWeese and Wanda Y. (Walker) DeWeese of Southside, WV.

Roger was preceded in death by his precious child who is in heaven, Baby DeWeese; and his father-in-law, Travis Dean Hope.

Roger was a member of the College Hill Church at Gallipolis Ferry and currently was attending the Rodney Pike Church of God, where he was a drummer for the Praise and Worship Team. He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1994 and a welder fabricator by trade but was currently a stay-at-home Dad and caregiver.  Roger had previously served also as drummer for the Gloryland Believers.

He was a loving and dedicated husband and father who loved the Lord and was dedicated to his church and family.  He took great pride in caring for the needs of his wife and children, and was a selfless servant for Christ. Roger was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved going on adventures on the 4-wheeler with his wife.  He had a sense of humor and a smile that would light up a room.  He also loved his collection of bandanas, cowboy hats and boots. Roger enjoyed lifting weights as a hobby as well.

In addition to his parents Roger and Wanda, he is survived by his wife Olivia A. (Hope) DeWeese; children, John William DeWeese, Lilly Dawn DeWeese, Rosetta Jane DeWeese and Tristan Roger Lane DeWeese.  He is also survived by sisters and brothers, Lisa and Randy Searls of Gallipolis Ferry, Tina and Kevin Norton of New York, Tonya Vargo and Patrick Loughren of Pennsylvania, Tyler and Lindsey DeWeese of Point Pleasant and Lana and Brian Mayes of Gallipolis Ferry; mother-in-law, Amy Anne Roush of Point Pleasant; special godparents, Shelby and Cathy Searls of Southside; former stepfather-in-law, Alan Durst of Point Pleasant; and his golden retriever Jase.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating.  Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.  The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.
