Robert "Bob" Erwin, 73, of Gallipolis Ferry, went peacefully to be with Jesus his Savior and received his heavenly reward Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. He was born April 22, 1943, in Huntington, a son of the late Rollie and Georgia (Wooten) Erwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Donald and Emmet Erwin; and one sister, Charlene (Erwin) Clagg. Bob was a faithful member of Faith Gospel Church in Gallipolis Ferry. He was ordained as a deacon in 1971 in Orange, CA and served at Faith Gospel until his death. He was a mentor to many and was respected and loved by all that knew him, because he sought to live the example set forth in I Timothy 3: 1-7. He was a 1961 graduate of Barboursville High School and spent his working life in Southern California as a union millwright for 34 years. He served as president of local union #1607, in Los Angeles, CA for 16 years. Bob enjoyed his retirement years doing what he loved, hunting, fishing and loving everyday while serving his Lord. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janelle (Meadows) Erwin; children, Lisha (Erwin) Sante, Sheri (Erwin) Moore and Robert A. Erwin; grandchildren, Mitch Sante, Mallary Sante, Kenny Sante, James Sarell, Dakota Moore, Gracie Erwin, Aubry Erwin and Sadie Erwin; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Juanita Stanley, Martha Blake and Sarah Meadows; and one brother, Rollie Erwin. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Faith Gospel Church in Gallipolis Ferry, with Pastor Joshua Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
