Rita Jane Barker

Rita Jane Pearson Barker, 78, of Shreveport, LA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Rita loved the Lord and her family, friends and neighbors. She prayed daily for them. She attended Faith Community Church in Shreveport and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was born March 27, 1945, in Gallipolis Ferry, to the late Aubrey Nibert and Clara Dane (Bonecutter) Nibert.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Pearson; sisters, Donna Simmers and Nancy Long; and a son-in-law, Greg Rawson.

Rita  is survived by two brothers,  Danny Nibert and Myron Nibert;  three children, Donald Pearson of Shreveport, LA, Lora Rawson of Middleport, OH  and  Deloris (David) Wedlund of Shreveport, LA;  and six grandchildren, Seth Rawson of Middleport, Mandy Siders of  Point Pleasant, Jordan (Jenny) Rawson of  Middleport, Jobee (John) Merriman, Zion Wedlund and Jayden Wedlund  all of Shreveport.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Savannah Siders, Sydney Siders, Ezekiel Wedlund, Emily Rawson and Benjamin Rawson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Bishop David Wedlund officiating.  Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Henderson.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.
