Richard Lee Young

Richard L. Young, 60, of Point Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at home. He was born August 16, 1960, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late George Richard "Dick" Young and Audrey L. (Goff) Young of Point Pleasant. In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Murphy and Leona Goff; paternal grandparents, Alburtice and Roberta Young; brother, Matthew Young; and father-in-law, Gene R. Hern. Richard was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1978. He retired with 32 yrs. service from AEP as a welder. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 20 yrs., Erma J. (Hern) Young; son, Josh (Mary Beth) Young of Hartford; daughter, Niki (Vince) Weatherstein of New Haven; son, Jason (Lora) Young of New Haven; son, Jason (Alicia) Taylor of Point Pleasant; son, Matthew (Chelsea) Ridgway of Hartford; and a brother, Michael (Jackie) Young of New Kent, VA.He is also survived by grandchildren, Emma Young, Aden Young, Ava Young, Vincent Weatherstein, Kennedy Weatherstein, Jaiden Young, Jainna Young, Jayla Young, Jayce Young, Peyton Taylor, Preston Taylor, Paige Taylor, Allison Ridgway and Ayla Ridgway;niece, Samantha Young of San Diego, CA; nephew, Jonn Young of Advance, NC; mother-in-law, Doma Hern of Point Pleasant; brother-in-law, Pete Hern of Point Pleasant; special friends, Ronnie and Frieda Greathouse of Point Pleasant; and Ranger the best "Fur Buddy" ever. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mike Finnicum officiating.Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
