Richard Garvin Tench

Richard Garvin Tench Jr., 66, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, OH. He was born July 16, 1954, in Falls View, WV, a son of the late Richard Garvin "Pete" Tench and Mildred Ruth (Valentine) Tench. Richard was a member and former pastor of Concord Baptist Church in Henderson.He was a graduate of Dupont High School Class of 1972 and continued his education at Alderson Broaddus College, where he was a member of the graduating Class of 1976.He retired as quality control manager from ICL in Gallipolis Ferry with 40 yrs. service and had also pastored other churches in Mason County. He is survived by his wife, Nesba Ann (Snyder) Tench of Gallipolis Ferry; sons, Richard M. (David Price) Tench of Charleston, WV and Daniel J.(Melissa) Tench of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Carson Tench, Alyx Tench and Brooks Tench; and one brother, Timothy Marshall (Deborah) Tench of Columbia, NC. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Main Street Baptist Church in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Jack Eades officiating.Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Thursday at the church.Social distancing will be observed and face masks are required.
