Richard Merwin Henderson

Richard M. "Hindu" Henderson, 88, of Point Pleasant, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at home.He was born August 25, 1929, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Clarence V. Henderson and Bertha (Farley) Henderson.Hindu was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1949 and a Point Pleasant High School Athletic Hall of Fame member. He retired in 1989 as Chief Warrant Officer from the 3664th Maintenance Company, Army National Guard in Point Pleasant. He had worked with the Little League in Mason County, and was a referee of all sports in the area. His love for sports was always evident especially with one of his famous quotes, "Round ball will keep you young". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Philip Richard Henderson; two brothers, Clarence and Frederick Henderson; and one sister, Genevieve Henderson Schirmer.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie E. and Bobby Watson of Point Pleasant; one son, Michael Andrew Patterson of Evans, WV; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.There will be no public services. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
