Reba Ginnell Hughes, 98, of Point Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant. She was born February 9, 1924, in Beech Hill, WV, a daughter of the late Gordon Hughes and Dicie (Hall) Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Edsel Hughes, Furman Hughes, Inez Denney, Enna Newman, Leva M. Hughes and Beulah M. Clark. Reba was a house manager for C.C. Lewis and family most of her life.She loved to cook and bake and was gifted in doing that.She also had a green thumb, her favorite plant was a fern.Reba had been longing to go home to be with so many of her loved ones already gone on before.She said she was frustrated at the ripe old age of her late 90's and hoped for Jesus to accept her and take her to heaven. Now, at long last Jesus Christ has answered her prayer. She has made it at the age of 98. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Minnie Louise and Robert Mayhugh of Bidwell, OH; special great-nephew, James "Jamie" (Wanita) Pullins of Point Pleasant; sisters, Opal Hughes of Gallipolis, OH and Ruth Hughes of Parkersburg, WV; and multiple nephews, nieces and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating.Burial will follow at the Harmony Cemetery in Southside.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.
