Raymond Jesse Lewis

July 15, 1943 — April 23, 2026

Raymond Jesse Lewis, 82, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 23, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Gallia County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jesse Simpson Lewis and Marie Ganel Lewis.

Raymond was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann Lewis. He is also survived by his son, Adam Lewis, and his daughter, Amy (Heath) Hesson. He was a proud grandfather to Andrew (Amanda) Lewis, Makennah (Shelby) Gray, Aubrey Lewis, Ashlea Woomer (Nate Hadsell), and Katey Woomer. Known lovingly as “PaPaw,” he leaves behind ten cherished great-grandchildren: Jace, Addysen, Karsyn, Jesse, Bella, Gunner, Eli, Hudson, Story, and Ivy.

He is also survived by his brother, Maxie Lewis (Geraldine), and his sisters, Doris Johnson and Betty Hudson; sisters-in-law Martha Sturgeon and Debi (Tim) Cottrill; along with several nieces and nephews.

Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. He retired from Goodyear/Shell Chemical Plant, the West Virginia Army National Guard, and the Mason County Board of Education after many years of dedicated service.

He loved the outdoors, especially spending time with his family out on the creek at the cabin. Raymond will always be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, and his willingness to lend a helping hand—especially when it came to family construction projects. Whether at the cabin or at home, he found joy in being surrounded by those he loved.

A graveside service will be held at Concord Cemetery in Southside, West Virginia, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service and the dinner immediately following. A bereavement dinner will be held at Fort Randolph Terrace, located at 123 Main Street, Point Pleasant.

He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
