Ray Rankin Pickens

Ray Rankin Pickens, 88, of Point Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born July 6, 1933, in Graham Station, WV, a son of the late Everett P. Pickens and Vannie (Hudson) Pickens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Pickens; a sister, Ruth (Sterling) Knight; and brothers, Harry A. "Chub" (Vera) Pickens, Bill Pickens, John (Louise) Pickens and Richard (Janet) Pickens. Ray was a faithful member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant.He was a graduate of Wahama High School Class of 1951, served his country honorably in the United States Army, retired from Valley Bell Dairy and after retirement worked for Fruth's Pharmacy in Point Pleasant. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David R. and Tamarah Pickens of Bakersfield, CA; a brother, Jack (Ruth) Pickens of Letart; sister-in-law, Georgia Pickens of Nebraska; five step-grandchildren, Tyler (Kristina) Martens of Santa Clara, CA, Mitchell (Marissa) Martens of Bakersfield, CA, Natalie Martens of Bakersfield, CA, Zoee Harber of Boise, ID and Nickolas Harber of Idaho Falls, ID; and two step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Mel Mock officiating.Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Bible Baptist Church, 107 Robinson Street, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
