Ralph E. Thomas Sr. 79, of Gallipolis Ferry, died at the home of his daughter Debi, Thursday, July 30, 2009. He was a member of Wyoma Pentecostal Church of Gallipolis Ferry, and a distinguished business owner in Point Pleasant for 45 years. He was the former owner of R & R Auto Repair. Ralph was born July 9, 1930 in Point Pleasant, son of the late Robert Leroy Thomas and Ivy Leota (Denney) Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Woodrow Thomas and Robert Leroy Thomas Jr.; seven sisters, Helen Vickers, Virginia Smith, Dorothy Woodall, Betty Jane Woodall, Nora Belle Taylor, Rosemary Thacker, and Roberta Johnson; a granddaughter, Jill R. Starkey; and great grandson, Keegan M. Duncan. Surviving is his wife, Virginia B. (Wamsley) Thomas who he married November 13, 1949; three daughters, Debi (Emil) Hoffman of Point Pleasant, Vickki Edwards of Point Pleasant, and Tonia Lee (Jim) Gibbs of Gallipolis Ferry; two sons, Ralph E. (Joan) Thomas of Apple Grove, and Ricky (Violet) Thomas of Point Pleasant; one brother, Richard (Betty) Thomas of Mercerville, Ohio; one sister, Phyllis (Floyd) Meadows of Buckhannon, WV; one aunt, Francis "Sis" Kidd of Cedar Grove, WV; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2009 at Wyoma Pentecostal Church with Pastor Charles Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Wyoma Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
