Ralph Edmond Bowser, 85, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Arbors of Gallipolis, OH. He was born August 27, 1935, in Henderson, a son of the late Elmer H. Bowser and Daisy J. (Barker) Bowser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Luzia Marianne (Sowodniok) Bowser, who he married September 1, 1956; a brother, Ray Bowser; one sister, Margaret Priddy; and a sister-in-law, Jean Ann Bowser. Ralph was a faithful Christian and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Point Pleasant.He was a 1954 graduate of Point Pleasant High School.After graduation Ralph enlisted and served in the United States Army.Ralph and his wife were dedicated leaders for many years to 4-H and youth programs.Heretired as an electrician from James M. Gavin Power Plant (AEP) Cheshire, OH.After retirement, Ralph enjoyed his hobbies with his cattle he had on the farm.If you ever wanted to find dad, he'd be back on the hill of his property on his tractor clearing brush, or working on and walking his fence line.He enjoyed working out with mom at the Pleasant Valley Hospital Wellness Center.Dad was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending quality time especially around the holidays with his children and grandchildren.Ralph after retirement loved traveling with Luzia, with Germany being one of their favorite places. He is survived by his five children, Ramona (Mark) Kincaid of Parkersburg, James (Kathy) Bowser of Southside, Patricia (Ronald) Ford of Parkersburg, Anita (Derek) Wolfanger of St. Marys, PA and Mark (Melanie) Bowser of Cameron, NC; eight grandchildren, Robert "Robbie" Weethee Jr.(Rachel), Garth Weethee (Kendra), Andrea Weethee (Ethan), Anneliese Wolfanger, Alexandra Wolfanger, Andrew Wolfanger, Melissa Bowser and Amy Bowser; and four step-grandchildren.He is also survived by three brothers, Oren Eugene Bowser, Ernest (Nancy) Bowser and David (Gloria) Bowser; one sister, Debra Given; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Priddy; and sister-in-law, Mary Bowser. A Christian Burial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Point Pleasant, with Father Penumaka officiating.Burial will follow in the Henderson Cemetery in Henderson.Military graveside honors will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and the Stewart-Johnson VFW Post of Mason. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with the prayer of the rosary to follow at 8 p.m. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff at Arbors of Gallipolis for helping oversee Ralph's care for the past three years.
