R. Leon Yoder, 85, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at home surrounded by family. He was born November 18, 1931, in Hurricane, WV, a son of the late Roncie Leonard Yoder and Golda (Abbott) Yoder. Leon was a member of Mason First Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, and retired after 35 years at Kaiser Aluminum later known as Century Aluminum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Yoder Butler; and two sisters, Madlyn Tincher and Mae Lotts. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Isabelle Yoder of Point Pleasant; four daughters, Vanessa (Brian) Jacobs of St. Petersburg, FL, Cindy Yoder of Grabill, IN, Connie Yoder of Left Hand, WV and Isabelle Bird of Sevierville, TN; five grandchildren, Joshua Jewell, Hannah Yoder, Zethan Stump, Robyn Bird and Shelby Butler; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Lucy and Isabella Jewell. Also surviving are three sisters, Louise Rumbaugh, Joyce Rosas and Mary Fisher; one brother, Paul Yoder; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Rob Grady officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Military graveside honors will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.
