Olston O. Wright

Olston Otho "Nick" Wright, 84, of Mason died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at the home of his daughter. He was a retired educator from Mason County Schools with 32 years service, and had served as president and past member of the Mason County Board of Education. He was a graduate of Glenville State College, a U.S. Army and Navy veteran, member of WV Trappers Association, and had been the proprietor of Maran Fur Agency. Olston was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Spencer, WV to the late Onnie Ottmer Wright and Anna (Hawkins) Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Radar; and a brother, Lansing Wright. Surviving is his wife, Ruth Ella (Baird) Wright of Mason who he married May 25, 1956; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and David Duncan of Point Pleasant, Kathie and David Hoffman of Middleport, Ohio, Nikki and Manning Roe of New Haven; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Brenda Wright of Gallipolis Ferry, and Randy Wright of Mason and fiancee Vicki Gardner; a brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey and Rosie Wright of Pennsboro, WV and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Eileen Baird of Gallipolis Ferry; nine grandchildren, Anthony and Loraine Wright of New Haven, Markia Wright of Gallipolis Ferry, Brenton Barnette, and Olyvia Duncan both of Point Pleasant, Lian Hoffman, Marlee Hoffman, Gracie Hoffman, and Cole Hoffman all of Middleport, and Nicholas Roe of New Haven. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove where military graveside rites will be given by American Legion Post #140 of New Haven.
