Norris Ray Bumgarner

Norris Bumgarner, 63, of West Columbia, passed away after an extended illness Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, in Point Pleasant. He was born April 7, 1952, in Mason, WV, a son of Thomas J. Bumgarner and the late Erma (Clark) Bumgarner Jones. Norris was employed on the family dairy farm until an accident in 1987. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed visiting and talking with neighbors and friends. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Wayne Jones. He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Lois Ann Bumgarner of West Columbia; one son, Thomas William Bumgarner and companion Marie of Gallipolis Ferry; a brother, Roger Bumgarner of Letart; half brothers, Scott Jones of Mason, and Brad (Ana) Bumgarner of Madison, NC; one step brother, Zack (Katrinka) Harris of Letart; step sisters, Barbara J. Chastain of New Bern, NC, and Lori D. (Steve) Miller of Oak Ridge, NC; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, for those considering an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
