Nichols B. Meaige, 79, of Gallipolis, Ohio, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant. He was a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant, and had retired with 25 years service from Burnette Roofing and Heating in Gallipolis. Nick was born March 12, 1930, in Gallipolis Ferry, son of the late Clarence Meaige and Rickley Ann (Fisher) Meaige. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lavina (Walker) Meaige; a great granddaughter, Lavina Michelle Shaffer; a son-in-law, Jerry Hardin; five sisters, Violet Lee, Mae Stevens, Edna Meaige, Mondee Meaige, Shirley Leach; and four brothers, Otto Meaige, Bud Lee Meaige, Charles Meaige, and Barton Meaige. Surviving are his children, Nick Meaige Jr. and wife Cindy of Leon, David Meaige and wife Becky, Tony Meaige and wife Sherri, Ricky Meaige and wife Milinda, Cindy Casto and husband Gary, and Beverly Hardin all of Gallipolis, OH; one brother, Estille (Mary) Meaige of Gallipolis Ferry; twelve grandchildren, Melissa (Todd) Hudson, Summer (Doug) Mitchell, Starr Fulks, Rodney Spires III, Michelle (Tracy) Ball, Crystal (David) Cox, Christopher (Candice) Meaige, Clarissa (Tyler) Ward, Gary Casto II, Amy Casto, Kara (David) Stapleton, and Erin (Seth) Shaffer; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jordan Cemetery at Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be 6-9 Tuesday, at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be his children, and honorary pallbearers will be Gary Casto, Vernon Houck, Gary Casto II, Rodney Spires III and Christopher Meaige.
