Nancy R. Bowman

Nancy R. Bowman, 86, of Leon, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, December 17, 2015, at home. She was born August 28, 1929, in Leon, WV, a daughter of the late George A. Rairden and Wretha D. (Parsons) Rairden. Nancy was a member of Leon United Methodist Church for 63 years. During that time she served as church pianist, Sunday school teacher, member of the trustee board, and the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School, Class of 1947, and attended Marshall College. She was also a member of the Point Pleasant High School Alumni Association. Nancy had worked at the Kyger Creek Power Plant and Mason County Chamber of Commerce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald L. Rairden. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harold E. Bowman; one son, Mark E. Bowman; two grandsons, Elijah E. and Caleb D. Bowman all of Leon; a sister-in-law, Janet Rairden of Kanawha City, WV; several nieces and nephews; friends and caregivers Glenvor and Pam Durst and Kay Errett; as well as many good life-long friends too numerous to mention. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2015, at Leon United Methodist Church in Leon, with Rev. Mike Lambert and Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Leon Cemetery in Leon. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to be made to: Leon United Methodist Church or Leon Volunteer Fire Department.
