Myrtle Arlene (Winkler) Thompson, 93, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She was born June 11, 1928, in Cabin Creek, WV, a daughter of the late John Basil Winkler and Myrtle (Stout) Winkler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Thompson; a grandson, James Lewis "Shilo" Leach; sister, Jackie Scarberry; and brothers, David R. Winkler, Robert O. "Fonz" Winkler and William Winkler. She was a member of Faith Gospel Church in Gallipolis Ferry and the Point Pleasant Chapter 75 Order of theEastern Star. She was a Hannan High School graduate and Valedictorian of the Class of 1946. She was a homemaker and a watch woman. Arlene, also known as Nan or Aunt Sis, is survived by her daughter, Linda Leach; granddaughters, Amber Leach and Ashley Leach; great-grandchildren, Bayleigh, Beckham, Riley, Gavin, Willow and Titus; and numerous nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Warner officiating .Burial will follow at the Balls Chapel Cemetery in Ashton.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
