Mitchell Clay Smith

Mitchell Clay Smith, 36, of Leon, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020, in Leon, WV. He was born March 2, 1984, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of Clinton Clay Smith and Lori Lee (Darst) Thompson. Mitchell was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 2003 and served in the Army National Guard. He was a pharmacy tech who had worked for Pleasant Valley Hospital and Rite Aid in Point Pleasant. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, David Darst; and brother, Joseph "Joey" Thompson. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Desirae Dawn (Lyons) Smith of Leon; parents, Lori and Joey Thompson of Point Pleasant and Clinton Clay Smith of Lexington, KY; son, Nicholas Lyons of Leon; sister, Jessica Smith of Point Pleasant; brother, Matthew (Rikki) Thompson of Cincinnati, OH; maternal grandmother, Judy Darst of Point Pleasant; and paternal grandmother, Gloria Thompson of Point Pleasant. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Billy Lyons of Leon and Jason (Donna Casto) Lyons of Cottageville, WV; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Elsie Lyons of Leon; nieces and nephews, Khloie Peck, Easton Holley, Ethan Lyons, Alex Lyons, Chad Lyons, Matthew Thompson and Eloise Thompson; and several aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
