Mildred A. (Speer) Hargraves, 91, of Point Pleasant died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant. Mildred was born March 20, 1916 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James Walter Speer and Flora Elizabeth (Hogg) Speer. She moved to Point Pleasant from Cincinnati in 1925, and graduated from Point Pleasant High School Class of 1935. She was a member of the Bellemead United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant where she was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the Naomi Bible Class, a member of the committee that composed the Mason County History Book in 1987 and was crowned Point Pleasant Heritage Queen in 1990. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death on March 26, 1966 by her husband, James "Hensley" Hargraves; and August 14, 2004 by their only child, James Franklin Hargraves. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Sharon Hargraves of Point Pleasant; a granddaughter, Tammy and Howard Ray Stewart of Point Pleasant; two great grandchildren, Adam Ray and Amity Stewart; and Ashlee Raelynn Stewart, and life long friends, Nancy S. Jewell of Charleston, WV and Lynn S. Durst of Point Pleasant. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Pastor James W. Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
