Mildred Isabelle Greer

M. Isabelle (Powell) Greer, 85, of Point Pleasant, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, Thursday, March 4, 2010. She was born July 25, 1924, in Hartford, WV, the daughter of the late Harley "Tipp" Powell and Dorothy (Chapman) Powell. Isabelle was a homemaker, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, where she sang in the choir for 60 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women Association. She aided in the "Meals on Wheels" progam in Mason County, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 23 Auxiliary for 50 years, as well as the Women of the Moose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" W. Greer; one son, Toby Greer; granddaughter, Melissa Dawn Greer; son-in-law, Stanley E. Elkins; two brothers, Bruce Powell and Harley Powell Jr.; a sister, Nancy Jane (Powell) VanMeter; and a brother-in-law, Elmer "Potsy" VanMeter. Surviving are her six children, Robert "Bobby" and Donna Greer of Point Pleasant, Shelia Ann Elkins of Point Pleasant, Carla Jane and J. O. Miller of Gallipolis, Dwight Greer, Dwain Greer, and Miriam "Sug" Greer all of Point Pleasant; one sister, Georgianna (Powell) Escue of Teays Valley; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Richard DeQuasie officiating. Burial will follow at the Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant.
