Melissa Jo Plants

Melissa Jo Plants, 37, of Apple Grove, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017, in Huntington, WV. She was born August 10, 1979, in Huntington, the daughter of Keith and Alice (Adkins) Plants of Apple Grove. Melissa was the manager for G.D. Ritzy's and worked for Kathy's Game Room, in Huntington. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Gladys Plants. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving son, Elijah Malik Butler of Apple Grove; brother, Shawn (Holly Edwards) Plants of Apple Grove; a very special little niece, Bailey Plants of Apple Grove; special friend, Rodney Goodson of Huntington; grandparents, Lloyd and Mildred Adkins of Ashton and Walter Plants of Somerset, KY. She is also survived by aunts, Lois (Larry) Schofield of Ashton, Faye Powers of Gallipolis, Carolyn (Jack) McCoy of Henderson, Jean (Merdia) Stover of Apple Grove, and Cheryl (Bobby) Jordan of Point Pleasant; uncles, Kenny Plants of Apple Grove, Joe (Patsy) Plants of Gallipolis Ferry, and Michael (Lynn) Plants of Huntington; and numerous cousins and friends. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Barton Chapel Church in Apple Grove, with Rev. Mike Plants and Rev. Joe Plants officiating. Burial will follow at the Barton Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
