Mary Jane Thornton

Mary Jane Thornton, 71, of Gallipolis, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born January 3, 1938 in Cottageville, WV, daughter of the late Dave and Dolly (Bennett) Parsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham E. Thornton; two daughters, Mary Lou Blake and Rebecca Chapman; one son, George Abraham Thornton; and three grandchildren, Joseph Chapman, Becky Thornton and Rebecca Jessica Kay Mollohan; three brothers, Roscoe Parsons, Buster Parsons and George Parsons; and five sisters, Bessie Fultz, Inez Hoschar, Essie Lane, Dorothy McKinney, and Ruth Bonecutter. Surviving is her children, Helen (Jamie) Cox of Hillard, OH, Joyce (Wayne) Thornton of Wellston, OH, Linda Spillman of Gallipolis, Donovan Thornton Blake and loving family and friends, Sonya Drummond and Robin Blake of Gallipolis, Curly Thornton of Gallipolis, and James (Gayle) Thornton of Gallipolis; one sister Wanda Henry of Gallipolis Ferry; 18 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Jimmy Thornton officiating.
