Mary Elizabeth Rice

Mary Elizabeth "Teddy" (Waring) Rice, 95, of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at her home. She was born August 2, 1914 in Ennis, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Meredith Francis Waring and Carrie Irene (Booth) Waring. Mary was a member of the Kenova Presbyterian Church. She also had attended Marshall College, was a teacher at Kenova Elementary for 13 years, and was a member of the West Virgnia Teachers Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ferris Albert Rice; and one sister, Frances (Waring) Fletcher. Surviving are one daughter, Frances Conley of Sylva, NC; one son, Leonard A. (Sue) Rice of Huntington, WV; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Solomon of Cullowhee, NC and Cheri (John) Connolly of St. Petersburg, Fl: three great grandchildren, Kari Queen of Cullowhee and Kaylee Connolly and Jaycee Connolly of St. Petersburg; and two nieces, Elizabeth Cox of Keyser, WV and Carole Fitchko and family of Falls Church, VA. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor John Holland officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
