Mrs. Mary Louise Farley Cooper passed away Friday January 5, 2007, at PVN & R. Center. She was born at Prince, WV, April 15, 1922 the daughter of the late Jasper C. Farley and Norma Dove Farley. She was employed as a business teacher at Point Pleasant High School until her retirement in 1982 where she had been a sponsor of the Y-Teens Club. She was also the first business vocational teacher in Mason County. She was a graduate of West Virginia University. She resided in Spencer for 17 years and was a past president of the Spencer Junior Woman's Club, held offices in the West Virginia University Alumni Association, Hill and Garden Club was a member of American Association of University Women, a Girl Scout leader and sponsor of the Tri-Hi-Y Club while teaching at Spencer High School. She was a former member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Spencer, and she was a standing member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, National Education Association, West Virginia Education Association, Mason County Retired Teachers Association, American University Association, Women and Mason County Camp Conley Homemakers. Growing roses was her hobby and she loved to test roses for Jackson Perkins, having named one of their roses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Summers of Beckley, and brother, Palmer Farley of Beckley. She is survived by her husband, John Cooper; a son, Rev. John Farley Cooper-Martin of Rockville, MD; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Jane) Cole of Pinch; four grandsons, Adam Cooper, Mark Cooper, Luke Cooper-Martin and Evan Cole; and two granddaughters, Laura Cooper-Martin and Liana Cole. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard DeQuasie officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Auburn Baptist Church Cemetery, near Auburn, WV, on the Gordon Farm on the Ritchie-Gilmer County line. Visitation will be Sunday, January 7 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home.
